I tried to make my magazine look as professional as possible, in order to do this I used photoshop and indesign which developed my skills. I used a typical student in my front cover which is stereotypical student in and around QE. I have compared to my magazine to "mens health" I have used the same kind of background as this magazine, a clear background and my model is place in a similar way to that of the professional magazine. However, i have positioned my mast head in a different place to that which is on the professional magazine. My photograph is the same as the professional one as i have used a mid shot which is suitable for my magazine as many magazines do use this also i have not used any props which is the same as the professional magazine and makes my magazine look more professional. i have used the colour purple to link with the college. The content that i have used for my college magazine is what i think would attract people from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form. I think this because, i have included things like; "College Life Made Easy", "Easy advice to save and make money" etc.
I have challenges the preceptions of studnets created by adults as i have used the posistive things that students do to such as charity events, ways to get more money etc. rather than focusing on the hanging around parks,doing drugs and all other anti-social activities associated with students.
The target of my media product is teenagers at college aged between 17 and 19 with interests in band music and general music orientated teenagers. This is becuase this was the most relevant audience to the type of magazine that i was making for example my magazine would be aimed at people in the indie subculture and would normally dress like;
This to the left hand side which is a stereotypical student aged male who is "Indie";
- They mostly have long hair,
- Like vintage clothes and limited edition clothing and items.
- They tend to wear quite skinny fit clothing; jeans, tops, jackets, etc.
The poeple that generally dress like this are usually aged between 17 and 21 which fits in with ym target audience. They are genrally just interested in music and this influences the way that they act and the way that they dress themselves as the way that they present themselves to peers etc. The musis that they are generally interested in is band music; arctic monkeys, the wombats and other genral bands. They tend to be like there "favourite band members" for example they might get the same haircut, clothes, etc as there favourite band members or they may wear band merchandise.
The layout that i chose for my magazine helped i think in attracting my target audience as i set it out quite formal and didn't have a lot of writing as the majority of my page is taken up by the picture that i have chosen. It appeals to my target audience as i think that they wouldn't look twice at something with to much writing on it. Knoing who my target audience was specifically made making my target audience
I have learnt about various different technologies whilst creating my prelim flat plan such as; Photoshop, Indesign, Blogger and the Scanner. All these things that i have used have benefited my product in various different ways. Photoshop allowed me to make my magazine front cover have a professional look and allowed me to do more things that i needed to do. Indesign, allowed me to make my contents page look professional and business-like. The scanner allowed me to upload my drawn version of my prelim which was good so that i did not have to look at my drawings seperatly as i could upload them on the screen which saved a lot of time. I learned how to use blogger which also benefitted my final product, as i do not have to write things up again and again but can just edit the post which saved me a lot of time.
